Moscow hosted the WFASD Acrobatic Rock’n’Roll World Championship

The Acrobatic Rock’n’Roll World Championship was held on November 26, 2023 at the Irina Viner Gymnastics Palace in Moscow.
198 athletes took part in the competitions representing 28 countries: Afghanistan, Belarus, Bulgaria, Bolivia, Botswana, Great Britain, Germany, Egypt, Israel, India, Iran, Spain, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, China, Colombia, Lebanon, Moldova, Mongolia, Paraguay, Peru, Russia, Senegal, Syria, Slovakia, Uzbekistan, Ecuador and Eswatini.
The Minister of Sports of the Russian Federation, diplomats from 15 Embassies and rectors of the Russian top universities visited the championship as the guests of honour.
The World Championship was held in four sports disciplines: Adults Rock’n’Roll M Class, Adults Rock’n’Roll A Class, Adults Rock’n’Roll B Class, Adults Rock’n’Roll Formation Women.
The total prize money comprised over 5 million Russian rubles.
The international panel of judges was composed of representatives from Belarus, Bulgaria, Croatia and Russia.
Honoured Master of Sports of Russia Konstantin Samoilov took the Athlete’s Oath, Milko Kralski (Bulgaria) – the Judge’s Oath.
The Opening Ceremony of the World Championship was attended by the Minister of Sports of the Russian Federation Oleg Matytsin, President of the World Federation of Acrobatic and Swing Dancing (WFASD) Oumy Sene, President of the All Russian Federation of DanceSport, Breaking and Acrobatic Rock’n’Roll (FDSARR) Nadezhda Erastova.
In his welcome speech, Oleg Matytsin expressed confidence that beauty and love will save the world, thanked the FDSARR for fulfilling this noble mission through organizing competitions and attracting thousands of young people around the world to sports, and wished the athletes good luck and beautiful victories.
The President of the World Federation of Acrobatic and Swing Dances Oumy Sene congratulated everybody on the creation of the new international federation and expressed hope that it will be possible to show the young people of all countries the potential of sport, especially the potential of Acrobatic Rock’n’Roll within the framework of WFASD.
The World Championship was declared open by FDSARR President Nadezhda Erastova, who noted that Russian athletes were banned from participating in the international competitions by the WRRC decision. Nevertheless, Russia has many friends. By mutual efforts a new international federation was created and Russian athletes were granted the right to compete under their flag. Nadezhda Erastova thanked the Ministry of Sports of the Russian Federation for assistance in organizing the World Championship. The FDSARR President thanked the representatives of the countries who supported the creation of the WFASD. In conclusion, the FDSARR President stressed that sport is the world with no borders and restrictions on the basis of nationality, and wished the athletes successful performances, and the audience - vivid emotions.
The representatives of 23 countries took part in the World Championship Adults Rock’n’Roll B Class. Ivan Railyan and Elizaveta Klopyzhnikova (Russia) won the title of the World champions in this sports discipline.
The representatives of the United Kingdom, Moldova and Russia competed in the World Championship Adults Rock’n’Roll A Class. Aleksandr Mashkov and Anna Orekhova (Russia) became the winners.
The representatives of Egypt, India, Spain, Peru, Russia and Uzbekistan fought for the victory in the most difficult and spectacular sports discipline Adults Rock’n’Roll M Class. Konstantin Samoilov and Anastasia Gusarova won the second consecutive title of the World Champions.
Formation teams from India, Kazakhstan, Columbia, People’s Republic of China, Kyrgyzstan and Russia took part in the World Championship Adults Rock’n’Roll Formation Women. Formation COOL CATS (Russia) won the title.
The presentation of a new dance style Acroswing was held in frames of the World Championship final. The championship was culminated with a bright, dynamic and a multinational flash mob.
The World Federation of Acro and Swing Dances congratulates all participants of the World Championship, as well as their coaches. The World Championship showed that sport has no borders and plays a unifying role in the world. Acrobatic Rock’n’Roll will continue to develop in the world, new competitions and new victories are waiting for athletes ahead.
